The Note 20's 3x optical to 30x AI-assisted zoom is still good as well, and better than the Galaxy Z Fold 2 (which has 2x optical zoom), but image quality at 30x was better on the Ultra than on the regular Note 20. Most of the time the Note 20 will fulfill your photographic needs. But when I took them both to the moody Northern California coast, many of my nature shots were simply better on the Ultra and I stopped reaching for the note 20 altogether.

This one should be a no-brainer by now given everyone has jumped into "pen" this century including Apple and Microsoft. Many business people take their notes on the PC, but more take them on paper. With the Note 8's Screen Off memo, I did not have to open the phone to take pages of notes. With 4,096 samples a second, I felt zero lag. This could even make me a believer in the pen.
Samsung really nailed it here and led the new pen revolution of this century. Once I found myself taking many notes with S Pen, I longed for a Windows app to view and share these notes on my PC. I thought the S Notes app would work, but it did not. I would like to see a Windows app and a way to sync OneNote.
In the next note, I'd also like to see an under-glass, ultrasonic finger print reader. The Note 8 rear fingerprint reader, while placed in a better place than the S8+, is still hard to operate and impossible to use with DeX. The basic processor platform in the Note 8 is the same as in the S8. It's a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, with no new features, and so it benchmarked about the same as other Snapdragon 835 devices. That's as good as Android phones get right now, of course, although it's sure to be outpaced by the new iPhone on pure processing speed. One thing to note is that switching the screen resolution, which Samsung makes easy, changes gaming frame rates. Flipping from WQHD+ to FHD+ moved on-screen frame rates in the GFXBench car chase test from 13 to 23, while the offscreen frame rate result stayed steady at 25.
There are a few oddities in Bixby, though. When I said "note to self," it went to my notifications settings rather than recording a note; I needed to say "make a note" instead. Also, asking for directions in Google Maps threw an error message. Those problems will surely get cleaned up.

It also features Samsung's biggest display yet: with its gorgeous Super AMOLED QHD+ display reaching a total of 6.3in corner to corner. Not only that, but the Note 8 also packs Samsung's first stab at dual-cameras, with a 12-megapixel f/1.7 wide-angle camera working in tandem with a 12-megapixel f/2.4 telephoto snapper on the back. To top it all off, you get Samsung's excellent S-Pen too, for note-taking and stick-man drawing.
The last big one-up is less obvious, but one you'll likely be taking full advantage of if you take the leap. Samsung's excellent S Pen stylus - the pointing stick that gives the Note its name - can now be used to jot quick notes on the screen while it's off, for on the fly note-taking. Among other things, handwriting and doodles can also be converted to GIFs and emoji should you so desire, and you can now hover the S Pen over any text or sentence to translate it, or use it for currency conversions. Perfect if you're the regular traveller.

The best and the WORST Samsung phone ever!! Have yet to have my Note 8 fail. Been down to zero battery, charges right up, resolution very sharp and clear, no bugs from any up date. So why the worst you ask!! The utter bull feeces glass of the display, It has always been in a case, usually wallet types, and of the myriad of scratches and one FULL LENGTH CRACK ON THE EDGE only one I claim. I put it in a drawer with the flap open and put my spiral wire note book on top. Not a pretty scratch. I little nicks like there was were bubbles in the glass and they popped ALLLL THROUGH THE DISPLAY. I bought the note 8 as an upgrade to my note 4.
